27th January 2022
The club is opening this Monday for 7.30pm.
I am recommending frequent use of hand sanitizers between dances and hand washing before tea. If anyone feels happier wearing a mask then please do so.
Our caller is Ernestine which guarantees a fun evening.
Hope to see you there,
Our Harbledown hall was no longer available. After searching for a new venue, we eventually found one in Canterbury. It is serving us very well. It is the Scout Hall at 37a Heaton Road Canterbury CT1 3QA. We have changed our name as we are now serving all of Canterbury, and beyond. So we will now be the Canterbury Folk Dance Club. Same people - new name!
The only evening available was Monday, so we had to change from Thursday. The new location is quite easy to find. Take the turning off the Wincheap Roundabout for Wincheap. Go under the railway bridge and continue on a shortish way until you see a brightly lit lighting shop on the left on the corner of Victoria Road. Turn up Victoria Road and left at the next junction into St Mildreds Place; a short stretch of road which leads into Heaton Road. This is on a slope and half way up on the right, just after the width restriction, is the Scout Hall. It is set back from the road at the end of a short cul de sac. There is parking and it should be enough for all of us. The Satnav co-ordinates are 51.270394 1.0732246.
The door will be open from about 7pm. Dancing will be from 7:30 until 9:30 with a short refreshment break. If you are held up and the door is shut then use the bell. We will contact as many people as possible but please also try to remind anyone living near your or who you meet that dancing started on September 6th. Our first caller was Jan Weight who gave an excellent performance. So come along and get dancing!
There are hand sanitizers, paper towels and a sack to put them in. If possible. bring your own mug with your name on it as there is only a small kitchen. and washing up is restricted. It will also more hygenic than washing up using a shared tea towel. There will be some disposable mugs available if preferred. If anyone feels more comfortable wearing a mask then please do.
